Things to do this weekend:

Clean car. Put together external hard rive. Visit Mum and Dad, and, er, what else?

Oh yes! Go and see Paul (looking cool in his 'Elvis' shades) and Johanna get married! My mate Paul is getting married to the lovely Jo at 12:30 tomorrow in Clitheroe at St Paul's church. Then its off to the Higher Trapp Hotel for the reception. It's going to be a great day. I will do links to pictures next week.

Paul always wanted his own blog but I never got round to setting one up for him. I have now. Check out 'Vagabond Heart' on the list to your right.

Chemical 'bomb plot' in UK foiled

BOMB PLOT FOILED!!!:

Maybe, possibly, perhaps. Although the chemical it names seems like a strange choice as it "may be fatal in confined spaces", surely the purpose of a bomb is to 'unconfine' those spaces?

However, the article goes on to say that the chemical "Becomes a gas at high temperature". Well, what doesn't? Surely 99% of elements become a gas if you get them hot enough, along with millions of compounds.

Shock! Dihydrogenmonoxide becomes a gas at high temperature!!1!!

Make sure you know what your staff are doing...

Check out the tag in this article ;-)

She must know she's doing it, right?

Also in the Indi, Nigella Lawson has a very very brief note on how to cook a roast chicken. 1 para, maybe 3 or 4 hundred words. In that space she manages to use:

bulging breast
salty juices
up its bottom
smear some oil
and remember, any juices you don't eat hot you can have later (uurgh)
knob.

Is it me?

Go and buy the Independent today.

The cover article by Robert Fisk is incredible. How the hell did things get this bad in Iraq? Paul Bremner shuts down a newspaper which has mocked him (apparently he took it personally) for 'inciting violence'. The newpaper had a circulation of 10,000 max. It was never going to incite anything, except now some Iraqis (Shia by the looks of it) feel they have had a right taken from them, which has resulted in? Yep, violence. 8 dead soldiers. Then Paul Bremner heats it all up again by saying 'they have crossed the line into violence and this will not be tolerated'. More riots have been sparked off because of this.

I can't do links as the Indi charges for it's articles.

Also, there is a piece inside about jobs. High paid job, tropical climate, will provide a stunning CV and garauntees the sucessful candidate a brilliant future in Washington. Yet no-one wants it. What is it? US Ambassador to Iraq.

Bush and Blair made secret pact for Iraq war

Hmmm,
interesting observer article, : looking back in time.

"Bush, claims Meyer, replied by saying: 'I agree with you, Tony. We must deal with this first. But when we have dealt with Afghanistan, we must come back to Iraq.' Regime change was already US policy"
